Husqvarna is gearing up for a strong 2022 motocross season, with an updated FC450 Rockstar Edition, as well as an all-new-for-2022 FC250 Rockstar Edition.

Both bikes are based on KTM designs, as you’d expect, since both companies (as well as GasGas) fall under the same corporate umbrella. However, there are differences between the bikes—most obviously, the plastics, which are new for both bikes for 2022.

Taking a more technical look, both the FC250 and FC450 Rockstar Editions have WP Xact forks and shock; that shock is adjustable without tools, and has a linkage-type lower mount, instead of a direct mount to the swingarm (which is the system KTM uses, with Progressive Damping System shocks). Both the 250 and 450 get a new hydro-formed chrome-moly frame as well, with composite aluminum-plastic subframe to reduce weight. The new frames are supposed to be more stable while the bike is under power.

On both bikes, the CNC-machined triple clamps have adjustable offset (20 mm to 22 mm) and the hubs are also CNC-machined from aluminum, laced to DID DirtStar rims with stainless spokes.

Both machines also see many changes to the engines, when compared to 2021 machines. In particular, the 250 has a whole lot of new top-end parts, bore and stroke are changed, and Husqvarna also boosted compression and added a starting device.

There’s also a selection of multiple riding modes available, including launch control and traction control options, and even a quickshifter for clutchless upshifts, certainly a handy feature when you’re aiming for a holeshot.

The new Husqvarna FC450 Rockstar Edition and Husqvarna FC250 Rockstar Edition should be in Canada this winter. We haven’t seen Canadian pricing yet, but more details should appear soon on Husky’s Canadian website.
