ORLANDO, Fla. — Several industry professionals were honored for their service to the council and the trucking industry during the Technology & Maintenance Council 2022 Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition on March 8.

TMC gave the Study Group Secretary Award to Grant DeGeorge, Alcoa Wheels and the Excellence in Maintenance Supervision Award to James Wenger III of U.S. Xpress Inc.

Wenger, who was a first-time attendee at TMC 2022, was humbled by the recognition.

“I realize how real this is when you’re recognized for work and the industry sees it,” he said before receiving the reward. “I truly feel that if you put in the hard work and let that work speak for itself, the results will come, and that’s what has driven me.”

In her valedictorian speech, Jackson thanked UPS and her mentors for assisting her in the development program. She also praised her fellow classmates for their resilience from finishing training that had originally started in February 2020, and was delayed due to the pandemic.

We all were so excited in February 2020, then we went home and the whole world slowed down and we had to speed up.

“We all were so excited in February 2020, then we went home and the whole world slowed down and we had to speed up,” she said. “And we did what the industry taught us to do — we kept moving.”

Jackson noted that the class continued its task force programs virtually while still developing recommended practices.

“But most importantly, we all took care of each other,” she said. “I’m so excited for the future and because of all of you, I know that our industry isn’t only going to survive but we’re going to thrive.”

Each of the technicians and executives was honored by Premier Trucking Organization.
